    “When they had lost all hope in him, they went aside to confer privately. The eldest of them said, ‘Do you not know that your father had taken a promise from you in Allah’s name and before this, you failed in your duty with Yusuf? So I will not leave this land until my father allows me or Allah decides for me. He is the best of judges.’”

    ’’پھر جب وہ اس (یوسف) سے ناامید ہوگئے تو علیحدہ ہو کر مشورہ کرنے لگے۔ ان میں جو بڑا تھا وہ بولا: کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ تمہارے والد نے تم سے اللہ کے نام پر عہد لیا تھا؟ اور اس سے پہلے تم یوسف کے معاملے میں کوتاہی کر چکے ہو، لہٰذا میں تو اس سرزمین سے ہرگز نہیں جاؤں گا جب تک میرے والد مجھے اجازت نہ دیں یا اللہ میرے حق میں کوئی فیصلہ فرما دے، اور وہ سب سے بہتر فیصلہ کرنے والا ہے۔‘‘

    “Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and you will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] you have earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and do not burden us with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

     “اللہ کسی جان کو اس کی طاقت سے زیادہ بوجھ نہیں ڈالتا۔ جو کچھ اس نے کمایا ہے وہ اسی کا ہے اور جو کچھ تم نے کمایا ہے وہ تمہارا۔ اے ہمارے رب! اگر ہم بھول جائیں یا کوئی غلطی کر بیٹھیں تو ہمیں پکڑ نہ۔ اے ہمارے رب! ہم پر ایسا بوجھ نہ ڈال جو ہم سے پہلے لوگوں پر ڈالا تھا۔ اے ہمارے رب! ہم پر وہ بوجھ نہ ڈال جس کا ہم میں تحمل نہ ہو، اور ہمیں معاف کر دے، ہمارے گناہ بخش دے اور ہم پر رحم کر۔ تم ہی ہمارا مددگار ہو، اس لیے ہمیں کافروں پر غلبہ دے۔”)
